At Kanu Education Center, our Foyer de Jour is more than just after-school care — it's a vibrant community where children are supported emotionally, socially, and academically. Located in Luxembourg City, we welcome children in a multilingual, inclusive, and joyful environment that helps them thrive.

Whether it’s through creative projects, outdoor games, group meals, or homework help, we give each child the time, attention, and encouragement they need to grow with confidence.

Our educational approach focuses on the whole child. We nurture independence, empathy, and curiosity while respecting each child's pace and personality. Through daily routines and child-centered activities, we help children develop key life skills — socially, emotionally, and cognitively.

Every day at the Foyer Kanu offers a variety of structured and free-play activities that help children explore their interests, express themselves, and engage with others.

  • Homework Hub – Calm, guided space to complete schoolwork with support

  • Group Games & Free Play – Cooperative games, puzzles, construction, and more

  • Creative Arts & DIY Projects – Painting, crafting, seasonal art, and sensory play

  • Outdoor Activities – Garden time, sports, movement games, and nature walks

  • Reading & Story Time – Multilingual library corner and storytelling sessions

  • Theme Weeks & Mini-Events – Carnival day, culture week, pajama day, and more!

Activities are adapted to age groups and follow a rhythm that balances learning and fun.

Healthy habits and shared mealtimes

Nutrition is a key part of children’s development — and we make meals a positive, shared experience at the Foyer.

 

  • After-school snacks – Healthy, balanced, and often homemade

  • Focus on variety and nutrition – Fresh fruits, whole grains, and low-sugar options

  • Hydration encouraged – Water is available throughout the day

  • Allergies and dietary needs respected – We work closely with parents to accommodate food sensitivities or cultural preferences

Mealtimes are moments for connection, discussion, and learning about healthy choices.

  • Daily cleaning & disinfection routines

  • Secure entry system and supervised pick-up procedures

  • First-aid trained staff always on-site

  • Clear emergency protocols and parent communication

Our space is designed to be child-safe and cozy — with age-appropriate materials, calm corners, and lots of natural light.

Hours & Organization

During the School Year

 

Monday to Friday: 12:00 – 19:00

  • 12:00 – 14:00: Pick-up from school, warm lunch, and relaxation time

  • 14:00 – 15:30: Calm play, quiet games, or reading

  • 15:30 – 17:00: Homework support, creative workshops, group activities

  • 17:00 – 19:00: Snack time, free play, wind-down activities, pick-up window​

Midday pick-up available depending on your child’s school schedule
School-to-foyer transport can be arranged upon request

​

During School Holidays

 

Monday to Friday: 7:30 – 19:00

  • 07:30 – 09:00: Flexible arrival, free play

  • 09:00 – 12:00: Creative workshops, outdoor games, cultural outings

  • 12:00 – 13:00: Balanced lunch on site

  • 13:00 – 14:00: Quiet time or nap for younger children

  • 14:00 – 17:00: Group activities, thematic projects, and fun learning

  • 17:00 – 19:00: Snack time, games, and pick-up
